【物語の背景】
この街では今、ミックスファイトが異様な盛り上がりを見せている。
学園のアイドル的存在であった女が、武闘派男子を絞め落とすショッキングな動画が、ネット上で公開されて以来、ある種の流行として女子達の間で格闘技が流行した。
個々人の強さはランク付けされ、格闘技歴、どのレベルの相手を倒したか等でランクが設定され、このランキング制度が流行の一翼を担った。
打撃や腕力に頼らなくても勝てる絞め技や関節技がある種目に人気が集まり、「喧嘩」だけで腕を証明してきた男達は、格闘技で武装した女子達に面白いように敗北していった。特に女子との戦闘で、「女性を傷つけたくない」「女性は守るべきもの」と考えている格闘技経験のある男や、男気ある腕っぷしの強い男は、その弱さに付け込まれ敗北し、その事実が女子達の男狩りに拍車を掛ける結果となった。
この流行に目を付けた者達によって、地下闘技場やイベントを複数企画され、それらは人気を集め、インターネット放送を中心に莫大な金が動くこととなった。
特に人気を集めた企画は、「Fighting Nightmare」で、男が15分間リングの上を、ある程度の実力を持つ女子から逃げ続けるというものだ。2回のギブアップあるいはKOで決着し、男が15分間反撃無しで逃げ続ける事が出来れば、所定のファイトマネーを貰う事ができる。逃げている最中、ギブアップの意思表示や、KOされる事がなければ、更に高額なボーナスマネーも獲得する事が出来る。一方、失神KOではなく、ギブアップの意思表示を2回行った場合は、そのファイトマネーの全額を、対戦相手の女子に奪われる。
追いかける女子側は、最低限のファイトマネーに加え、「15分間の生放送でどれだけ再生数を伸ばしたか」によって、支払われる金額が変動する。また相手をギブアップに追い込む度に、特別ボーナスが支給される。そのため、フェチ要素の高い極め技を長時間使用して再生数を稼いだり、相手を失神させずにギブアップさせて、特別ボーナスを狙いにいく女子が多くいる。
ソウタは、このくだらないミックスファイトブームに興味もなく、関わっても来なかった。
しかし、家族が妹しかいない彼は、身寄りがなく経済的に厳しい生活を送っていた。
そんなある日、妹が病で倒れてしまった。ソウタは高額な妹の医療費を稼ぐため、「Fighting Nightmare」への参戦を決意した・・・
